/ The Labo Glaneur is a circular economy project developed by a student of l’Ecole Boulle, Orianne COLLET, which is based on the gleaning tradition.

  • Fichier open source donc accessible à toutes et tous ;
  • Produits frais rendus accessibles : projet responsable ;
  • Adaptabilité du concept au contexte géographique, climatique : appropriation par les citoyen·ne·s ;
  • Construction facile à partir de produits de récupération : abordable.

Presentation of The Labo Glaneur

The Labo Glaneur is based on the tradition of collecting food leftovers, which are not sold after the market ends: “the gleaning”. This design project reminds the rights linked to the gleaning: to ring the bell (to open the activity), to share, to conserve, to sow, to dry the products collected. Those rights are materialised in the Labo Glaneur by 5 construction manuals. They enable the inhabitants of the urban area to participate in the activity and therefore encourages them to adopt a circular economy approach.

The Labo Glaneur and the New European Bauhaus

The Labo Glaneur supports the green transformation of our life styles.
Sustainability: the Labo Glaneur contributes to the upgrading of food leftovers and prevent their waste.
Aesthetics: Item of design, the Labo Glaneur relies on simplicity to value the gleaning activity.
Inclusion: the Labo Glaneur applies to citizens going to markets and enable them to cooperate to implement this collaborative model.

The Labo Glaneur involves different actors: institutions, associations, consumers, retailers, and gleaners. The gleaning provides disadvantage populations with fresh products from the market. In this way, gleaning is an inclusive activity.

The Labo Glaneur is made of reclaimed wood, which makes its construction affordable for all citizens. The plans of the Labo Glaneur are open source and thus accessible to everyone.

The + of the project

  • Open source, accessible to all;
  • Fresh products accessible : responsible project;
  • Adaptability of the idea to the geographical, climatic environment: appropriation by the citizens;
  • Easy construction based on reclaimed materials: affordable.
